Colorado's Waiting
Clock hits five, I’m done with the grind
The road opens up like a state of mind
Left a note on the counter, left the key
No forwarding address just me
That town held her like a secret kept
I’ve chased it down with every step
Each turn I take, the distance fades
But what I’ll find, I can’t quite say
Colorado’s waiting under skies so wide
River running wild where the heart can hide
Stars shine bright and the nights run slow
And the fire still burns through the wind and snow
I’ve been gone too long, but I know, I know
Colorado’s waiting
There’s a light in the hills that never goes out
A name in the air I can't live without
Maybe it's her, maybe it's me
Maybe it's just where I'm meant to be
She never said stay, but she never said go
So I’m driving west with my radio low
There’s peace in the curve of that mountain line
And something familiar I still call mine
Colorado’s waiting where the shadows fall
On a front porch light or a canyon wall
Through the dust and dark, through the lines I crossed
She’s the part of me I never lost
Deep in my blood, carved in bone
Colorado’s waiting
Don’t need much, just a winding road
A place to forgive what I never showed
Let the silence speak in the canyon wind
I’m heading back where it all begins
Colorado’s waiting like a long-lost friend
Like a kind of love that don’t quite end
From the city lights to the mountain snow
It’s the one true thing my heart still knows
So I turn this wheel and let it roll
Colorado’s waiting
